Amazon Reviews

I read this book before I got my Shiba Inu puppy. He was 8 weeks old when I got him and immediately started using the techniques from the book. After 4 weeks he has “sit”, “down”, “stay” perfectly, and walks on a leash with reasonable ease. And he seems to understand what we are doing with this training thing. People are amazed that he can do so much at such a young age. I couldn’t be happier.
Amazing book! A really easy read and I love that she also explains why doing certain things are important along with giving an example story. We followed this book religiously from the day we got our pup and he turned out to be the best trained dog I’ve ever had. I highly recommend!

Amazon Reviews

This book is a great companion to Zak’s YouTube Channel. I have a 11 week old golden retriever that I have taught to leave it, lay down, paw/touch, look at me, and walk on a leash all using the videos! I was still having a lot of problems with her separation anxiety, food stealing (or attempting to), and constant chewing and biting.

I got Zak’s book to help guide me in these areas because even though she’s a puppy, I didn’t want to let bad habits go unchecked. There is a lot of advice and helpful information on any specific problem or concern you could have. If you love positive, treat and reward based training, this book is for you.

Love Zak’s approach to training!!! This book as well as his other one are both great companions to his YouTube channel and Instagram! This book is best if you already have a dog and want to work through common problems and his other book is best if you are looking to get a dog and want to learn what it’s like to own/care for a dog. Highly recommend!!!

I am working with a cattle dog rescue, now 12 yrs old. (had him for 4). I have always been told that to move things along, you had to break it down into chunks. As a horse trainer, I had no problems with that, but with dogs I have not broken down chunks into small enough pieces. The number of perfect repetitions before moving on, stepping back, or holding where I was, never got through my thick skull. All my problems with my dog are not his, but my own and now I know how to fix them. This book will help you to gain that motivation you see in the pro’s dogs in you very own dog. Thanks for breaking it down for me!
Been going through this book with my dog. If you stick with it and go at the dog’s pace, it is very helpful. I think the most important take away is the ‘push’ ‘drop’ ‘stick’ method. If they can go 5 for 5, make the exercise a little harder. If not, stick at the current level. If the dog only gets 3 or less out of 5, back up and make it easier. All of this makes it so the dog doesn’t lose interest or give up because it’s too hard. Good book.

This is a great, common sense, positive reward-based approach to training your pooch. The book definitely gave me some ideas to follow, and changed my opinion on some pup psychology by changing my perspective. It’s a good, easy read. Thanks!
Love this book. The insights and suggestions are great. Have given this as a gift too.

Amazon Reviews

Loved this book. It’s an enjoyable, speedy read sprinkled with humor throughout. I recommend reading it before you even bring puppy home, so you can start out right from Day One. All the basics are covered, from house training to chewing to greeting visitors politely and that elusive loose leash walking that we all dream of. Mann’s training philosophy revolves around understanding your dog’s point of view and using positive training methods that strengthen your relationship with your dog. No punishments or harsh methods; replacing undesirable behaviors with specific behaviors that you want puppy to do instead.
One of the best puppy books to come out in some time. It introduces you to basic obedience commands plus the whole puppyhood experience. It should be required reading for every dog owner!
